Get to know me on a more intimate level through my music

To my dear listener,
I’d like to introduce you to a new type of music. It can accurately be called Premium Hip Hop for Grown Folk 😉
Although the writing and recording on this project started just eight months before it was released, it has been over 20 years in the making. Lemme explain…
I made a bunch of music while in college in the early 2000’s but hung up my career when the demands of family took priority.
As the kids got bigger (and more expensive), parents got up there in age, and my tech company started taking off, I honestly never thought I’d get back in the studio.
Then one day, it happened. I walked out of my home office to hear my oldest daughter (age 14) singing to the top of her lungs in perfect pitch to Olivia Rodrigo’s Balad of a Homeschool Girl. It occurred to me that she was the same child who could replicate melodies to popular songs on the keyboard effortlessly at seven years old, even after hearing it one time. How could I have missed this?
I then wrote the hook to the song ‘Legacy’ and convinced her to try singing it. After 30 minutes in the studio, she did it! Nailed it in about three or four takes. Then she helped lay down the chords and finish production on the track. After about a week, we had a whole song! Her first real song – and arguably my best up to that point.
The rest was history. She and I wrote, recorded, and produced this entire album together on nights and weekends over an eight month period while traveling Latin America, living, working, and schooling. We even recorded and produced a couple of music videos while we were at it.
This music is meant to be enjoyed by the entire family. For years I’ve struggled to find music that is really good and suited for me to listen to in the car with the wife and kids, especially hip hop. I just couldn’t subject my children to non-stop sex, drugs, money, and violence that you hear in music today. However, I did want them to develop the same love for hip hop that I developed around their age.
So here it is. I sincerely hope you enjoy it! If so, please help spread it to others as we are self-funded independent artists. My goal is to use music as a means to help pay for the kids’ college, and now I’m hearing rumblings about med-school; yikes :/ Every share or mention means the world to us.
God Bless You. Let’s get better every day.
Kind Regards,
Calvin
